Why Cleaning Up After Windows Can Make Your Slow Computer Faster

So your computer’s slow and you have no clue where to start to make it faster? Try cleaning up your Temp folder. Your computer’s operating system is designed to run as quickly as possible but after time it will start to slow down (don’t worry this is natural). Why does this happen? See when your first get your computer it is completely “clean”. Then after you have used it for a while what happens is that it will start to slow down since it starts to accumulate “junk” in different areas of the computers operating system. All you really have to do is to just go in there and clean up all of that junk – yes it’s that simple (well for the most part, you do also have to know how to tune your computer but that’s more in depth and beyond this article). This is why the idea of registry cleaners is so attractive – it cleans one area of your computer (your registry) to make it faster – but the big problem with registry cleaners is that they only clean one area while there are many different areas that need to be worked on to make your computer faster.

Your computer uses it’s RAM as a temporary working place. When some of these files are in RAM they also need a temporary working place of their own and they will use a folder on your hard drive called the temporary folder (or a Temp folder for short). When window’s is done working with these files in your temp folder it deletes them and everything is fine and dandy. The problem arises when you kill a program or when it freezes or hangs. What happens to the files in that folder is that they were never actually removed and after a while of this happening your Temp folder can build up a lot of files that are just slowing your computer down. Here’s a simple procedure to remove them:

If you are using Windows XP, close all running files and programs and then click Start, click on Run and type %Temp% in the box and hit enter. Now you’re going to get a window that will show you the contents of the Temp folder. Just delete everything that you can in that folder. If for some reason it says that you cannot delete a certain file, just skip it and move onto the next one.

For those of you that are currently using Windows Vista, close all of your running programs and files, click Start in the left hand corner of your screen and type Run in the start menu search box. A small Run window should comes up now. Just type %Temp% and hit enter. Now what you are going to want to do is to delete everything that you see in that folder. If there are some files that you cannot delete that are in that folder, then just ignore them and move onto the next one.

For the most part, this will free up some hard drive space which will make your computer run faster (your hard drive will have less files to take care of) and your computer will have less internal errors which is always a plus.

How To Defend Your Computer From The Evils Of The Internet

One of the most frustrating things that can happen to you while you are happily surfing the Internet is when speeds slow down to a crawl, for no apparent reason. That one site where you download videos in a couple seconds is now taking several minutes. There a few possible reasons for this. Internet connection problems, web site maintenance issues, but what is generally the main cause is a computer virus.

Obviously, they are called viruses because of how they spread from computer to computer, just like colds spread from person to person. You catch it and pass it on without ever knowing about it. When it comes to computer viruses, they come in two broad categories.

The absolute most terrible kind is referred to as malware, short for malicious software. This is created with the sole intention of causing harm and destruction to your computer. Sometimes they can cause your computer to crash completely, while other times they get into your email list, and erase it completely, but not before sending copies of itself to all your friends.

The other kind of virus, while not designed to deliberately cause harm, can be just as frustrating. These are usually referred to as adware or spyware. These programs sneak into your machine, and look for personal information, such as browsing habits, your favorite web sites, or anything else that might be helpful to online marketers trying to sell you stuff.

The reason they slow your computer down so much is they get in and hog all your resources. Your memory and other things that are required for fast Internet surfing. All of your other programs get put on the back burner, and the spyware and adware programs take up all your valuable computing juice.

Fortunately, there are plenty of programs designed specifically to seek and destroy these horrible programs. Most will not only scan and remove them on a regular basis, but will also protect your computer on an ongoing basis, keeping them from installing themselves in the first place. If you don’t have one of these software programs working on your computer, it is highly recommended that you get one as soon as possible.

The Horrible Dangers Of Spyware

Computers and the Internet are likely one of the greatest inventions in the history of mankind. And I’m not speaking figuratively, or metaphorically, I mean that history will show that the Internet will have a dramatic effect on how business is done, the distribution of labor, and international trade and commerce. So much so that thousands of years from now, this era will be known in the history books as the Information Age.

The most recent chief parallel shift in civilization that had this much bearing on humanity was the discovery of agriculture. Before the invention of agriculture, men and women had to hunt for food, and constantly be moving around. If they stayed in one location, they would rapidly die. Folks lived in bands of fifty individuals or so, and the partition of manual labor was certainly separated between men and women.

Then when cultivation was invented, people could stay in one place. For many generations. The separation of labor became less clear by gender. Women could cultivate just as well as men. And one other thing emerged with the skill to till the land. The capacity to accumulate wealth. The more farm land you controlled, the more affluent you became. And the more affluent you became the more farmland you could control. This was simply not possible in the hunter gatherer culture.

Then in the engineering age, the separation of labor slowly shifted back to the way it was before. Most jobs required substantial strength and endurance, and were held, for the most part, by men. Only during major wars did women take on jobs that were by tradition male jobs.

Today, on the other hand, that is changing. Information is the currency of business today. And as more and more people are using the Internet to communicate, it is becoming a larger and larger foundation stone of frequent business. So much so that people are gathering a considerable quantity of prosperity on the Internet, just like the farmers of the first agricultural societies. And on the Internet, anyone can get rich. Man, women, even kids are figuring out how to make money online.

One of the most excellent skills to have today would be Internet advertising skills. Even if you never have it in mind to make a full time living online, it would be a decent idea to at least learn the basics, so this latest alteration that will be remembered by human history does not pass you by. And by all means, make sure you protect yourself from spyware and adware. Nothing will keep an Internet business from getting off the ground like those two wicked twins.

How To Shelter Yourself Against Atrocious Internet Software

With the massive increase in speed and connection to the Internet, there are more and more sites popping up all over the place. Recent estimates put the figure as high as one million web pages being created per day. And recent surveys indicate that many people are beginning to expect Internet access as a basic human right. But just with any other good thing that comes along, there are dangers as well.

One of the prevalent hazards in connecting to the Internet is that you discover yourself to threats in the form of spyware, adware, and other cruel software. These can be demanding to spot, and can have a destructive outcome on your computer’s performance, which in turn will directly have an bearing on your Internet experience, so it’s eminent to be able to detect when you’ve downloaded some kind of spyware or adware program.

The first thing to pay mind to is how long it takes your computer to do the same tasks over and over. Since it is doing the same thing, it shouldn’t take longer as time goes on. If accessing the same web page is taking longer than previously, this may be an sign that you have a cruel software program on your computer.

Another warning that you’ve downloaded something less than useful is if you perceive that your homepage keeps shifting. One thing that spyware and adware programs like to do is force your browser to open up a specific web page in hopes you’ll give some personal information, or get some of their products.

If you suppose that you have some kind of spyware or adware program running, but aren’t very convinced, it can be a good idea to check your task manager. You can access this by hitting the Control, Alt, and Delete key on your computer briefly. This will bring up a menu, and straightforwardly select the task manager. This will give you a record of all the programs that are using your computers resources. If you see anything you don’t understand, chances are you’ve picked up a virus somewhere.

Of course, the best resistance is a good attack. This readily means that by having a full-bodied anti spyware and adware program installed and running, you can prevent any of these buggers from installing themselves in the first place. Many of these programs are pretty inexpensive, and come with common updates to keep you protected from the latest threats. With the growing importance of the online experience, safety is an important concern.

How To Defend Yourself From Bad Spyware

With the massive growth of the Internet in recent years, it’s no wonder that more and more people are taking advantage of this awesome opportunity. The more your surf on line, the more you can’t help but notice the amazing amount of cool stuff you can find in the form of entertainment, useful information, and even employment opportunities. However, everything is not as happy as it seems. There is a downside to all this Internet goodness. What I’m talking about here is spyware and adware.

What exactly is spyware and adware? First of all, these two categories of programs are different from something normally referred to as “malware,” which is short for malicious software. Malicious software is designed to do only one thing: Demolish as much of your computer’s information as possible. And often times it does this, and then makes copies of itself and sends itself to all your email links.

Spyware and adware, on the other hand, aren’t so sinful. Yes, they can freeze your computer and make you want to pitch it out the window, but they aren’t intended with such atrocious purposes. They only spy around to find information. Many times individual information that you’d rather not get out in the open.

Many times spyware serves a handy purpose. Parents, companies, bosses, they need to know that the computers that under their authority are being put to good use. No parent wants their child surfing to adult web sites, and no boss wants is or her workers goofing off while they should be functioning. These are some everyday uses of intentionally installed spyware by people that actually have a vested interest in the user of the target computer. But what about the other kind?

The other kind is installed without your knowledge, and without your permission. Often times they come along with something that you may have thought was “free,” like a handy desktop icon, or some file allocation software. But more often than not, these “free” software programs often come with spyware and adware pre installed.

How do you get rid of it once you have it? The best way is to get and run an anti spyware software program. These are either free, or paid. The free ones are great, but sometimes they aren’t up to date enough to take care of the latest spyware programs out there. When this happens, sometimes the best thing to do is pay for a program. This way, you’ll not only always be up to date, but you’ll also have continued protection against forthcoming invasions. The Internet is a great place, and packed with remarkable resources and distraction. You shouldn’t spend your eminent time worrying about spyware on your computer.

How To Defend Yourself From Sinful Spyware

The Internet is growing today by leaps and bounds. There is a lot of things that we can take for granted today, that would have been impossible only a few years ago. Watching full TV shows online, downloading songs that would be impossible to find in any record store, even face to face international video conferencing is possible today because of the Internet. But along with all the good stuff, there is bad stuff as well. And on the Internet, that means spyware, adware, and other malicious software.

Spyware and adware are generally considered to be the same thing, but occasionally they aren’t. Spyware is any software that has been installed on your computer that monitors how you use certain programs. Because spyware is frequently installed by those hoping to use your personal advantage to get gain an advertising edge, it is typically thought of as the same thing as adware. But spyware can also be effectively used by parents and bosses to supervise computer activity.

Where does spyware and adware come from? Many times it comes alongside with free software that you download. Beginning developers that are trying to establish themselves will often “piggy back” some spyware or adware programs with their software in order to gain a little profits for their efforts.

While a quantity of software programs will be up front about the spyware or adware that comes with their programs, most won’t. And while some of the software will run okay if you immobilize the spyware portion of it, others won’t run at all, rendering the software useless. Many times there will be two separate versions accessible, one free one with spyware, and one paid one without.

Different kinds will install themselves without you even knowing about it. A few webs sites are designed to put in these programs right after you visit their site. Many times these sites will be music download sites or adult slanting sites, but recently there have been many sites posing as charity sites, especially with recent tragedies around the planet.

The best protection, of course, is to have a good anti spyware and adware program installed. This way you can check your computer on a regular basis and take away any spyware, as well as preventing any future invasions. Many of these programs come free, but the paradox is that many of these “free” spyware and adware removal programs have spyware themselves. Another drawback of these free programs is often times they aren’t up to date enough to combat the latest threats.

A paid for software program is usually your best bet to defend your computer against spyware and adware. These usually come with recurrent updates, so you can be sure you are always protected against the most recent spyware and adware developments.

Is Spyware The Upsetting Thing People Make It Out To Be?

Most Internet users have some form of spyware on their computer. According to a recent survey, over ninety percent of us have it in some form or another. But one thing that is commonly overlooked is that sometimes spyware can in fact be very helpful and desired.

A valuable and positive use for spyware is for parents to monitor their children when they are online. Various kinds of information can easily be recorded by these programs, including web sites visited, and actual words typed on the keyboard. These are also known as keylogger programs. If you are worried about your son or daughter visiting a dangerous site, then this would be extremely beneficial. For example, you could monitor what is being typed in various Internet chat conversations.

Many companies use spyware on both dedicated machines and machines shared by several coworkers. Of course, while you’re at work, you’re supposed to be working, and not wasting valuable time goofing off on the Internet. Of course, it makes sense for employers to want to get as much productivity as they can with the economy in the shape that it’s in.

Another net benefit is for programmers to get some revenue for some of the software that they develop. Many software that is developed by individuals is offered for free, at least up front. The “free” software often comes with spyware attached to it and can help generate advertising revenue for the software creator. Many of these software programs let you know up front that there is spyware involved in the “free” download. This is good for you, as you are getting some free software, and good for the developers, as they are getting a little bit of revenue for their efforts.

Of course, not all people and developers are so forthcoming with the attachment of spyware to their products. You should always beware whenever you download “free” software. There is likely some kind of spyware hidden in there. Despite piggy backing into your system, most spyware doesn’t really do much damage to your computer. Only when you have many programs running at once does it present a problem.

Naturally, there is a negative side to spyware. Some kinds of spyware can be particularly frustrating if you download it by accident. Many spyware programs are developed specifically to be hard to find unless you have some cutting edge software to get rid of it. If you happen to download some potentially dangerous software, uninstalling the program it came with may be the only option. If that doesn’t work, then it would be best to run one of many spyware removal systems available.

To naturally keep your computer shielded against awful viruses and discover easy and effortless spyware adware removal system, head on over the spyware adware removal page today.

The Origins Of Spyware And How To Guard Against It

There has been a tremendous growth in the Internet in recent years. I’ve you’ve been online for more than a few years, then you can certainly appreciate how much quicker and easier things are now than they were with slow dial up connections. Despite all the good things that come along with increases in Internet technology, there are a few bad things as well. One of the most frustrating things that can happen that can easily ruin your mood is getting some pesky spyware installed on your computer. In this article I’ll explain where it comes from, and what you can do about it.

First of all, spyware is any software that records any information, and then reports back to a third party. This are great if you are a parent or a boss, and are worried about how somebody is using a shared computer. This can be a real pain when the spyware was installed by somebody intending to collect information to help their marketing efforts. In the first case, it’s obvious where the spyware came from. But what about the second case?

Spyware comes from three basic sources. One of the main sources is through free downloaded software. A developer that makes a software program can still make money enough though they give it away for free. The program installs spyware, and if information collected from you results in a sale, or an action, the software developer gets paid. Applications for your desktop, dubious file sharing software to download music and movies, and various other “free” software usually come with a hidden price. Be careful what you download.

Another source of spyware is through email attachments. These are called “Trojan horses,” after the Greeks who used a big wooden horse to sneak into Troy and kill everybody. Unless you personally know the person sending you an email, be extremely careful when clicking on any attachment.

The third major source of spyware is certain web sites that install software simply by visiting the site. Be extremely careful of clicking on any links that you don’t recognize. Although browsers are continually updating to try and prevent this, many times they are slightly behind the curve, and you can be in danger if you click on a link that you don’t recognize.

The best way to guard against spyware is to have a robust anti spyware software on your system that can both scan for and remove software, as well as protect against it being installed in the first place. While there are several free programs, often times they aren’t up to date enough to protect against the most recent spyware developments. For a modest fee, you can easily and effectively protect your system from any and all invasions by third party spyware.

To obviously keep your computer shielded against dreadful viruses and learn uncomplicated and effortless spyware adware removal system, hop on over the spyware adware removal page today.
